Beautiful hotel in a bad location

This is a beautiful hotel in a area that has become rough. Lots of fights had broken out during my stay. Be prepared for the hotel to charge $25 a night for parking . If you need your room to be cleaned during the during your stay don’t expect much from house keeping. The front desk staff are positively delightful! And The hotel does have a small pool for use if that is of interest.

Customer Service is Crap!

The rooms were awesome and the location was great too! The thing I’m not impressed on is the customer service! At check in they failed to tell us important information. Parking isn’t the greatest but I have stayed there before and got closer to the hotel. But we arrived earlier the previous time. This past stay we still parked across the street but I guess not in the area we were supposed to. Which was never stated to us at our check in. She just asked if we parked across the street or in the parkade. She did not specify it had to be in the first 2 rows across the street. I booked 3 rooms had a party of 6 ppl so paid for 3 parking passes across the street with the hotel at $25 each. One vehicle parked first row. Took the last spot so the other two vehicles parked 4rth-ish row where there was room. Wake up to 2 parking tickets of $95+ each. So I proceed back inside and ask the hotel staff what the hell, as I paid for parking and she stated I parked in the wrong area. Well it should be specified at check in. I would have moved it closer when I had the chance. Or I would have just paid that meter instead of the hotel. Also if I didn’t park in their lot, they should reimburse me my $50 I think. So in my eyes, not accommodating to guests. And I always stay there, whether it’s with friends, or business but this is definitely deteriorating me away.

Flawless stay! Lovely staff and nice accommodation. I especially appreciated the fact that it housed a nice hot tub and steam bath for me to retreat from the dry Edmonton cold to. Special shout-out to Roberto for being such a welcoming consierge.

Gross room, subpar customer service.

I recently stayed for one night at the Costal Edmonton, the downtown location with my husband for our anniversary. I was a very let down with the cleanliness of the room, especially with the bedsheets. When we checked in, we did not notice a blood stain on the sheets, but realized when I woke up in the morning that there was old blood stains on my side of the bed - and I slept on it all night. When my concerns were brought up (with pictures of the stains as proof), the only thing that the manager was willing to do was “give us a free upgrade”, meaning we’d have to spent an extra $100+ for the room, and extra $$ for barely-there parking, only for a mediocre upgrade. Uh, no thanks. An insult for causing such an annoyance on a special night. Now onto the parking. I am also very disappointed that we paid $22 to park our car overnight, just to not find parking when we came back to the parkade at around 10:30 pm. Half of the lot was shut down due to construction.

Cruel and unusual treatment of a vulnerable client

Their site says they have a shuttle from the airport to their hotel. They do not. And they do not have any plans to take down the information stating they do have shuttle service. The two front desk workers (Arsh and Anton) were snarky and incredibly rude. We watched them openly mock a disabled man as he was pleading to pay for the room with cash and just put the incidentals on his credit card (which again, their website states only a 200$ CAD for incidentals will be applied to a credit card, not the entire stay as well). It seemed they wanted to preauthorize 1000$ on his credit card but he said he only planned on a 200$ charge on his card and that’s all the room he had on his card. This was in the evening around 7:30PM and he said he didn’t have access to make a payment on his card at that time. I watched them refuse him over and over again. He even had an advocate call the front desk to help plead with them to allow him to pay for his 3 night stay with cash. He was scared to go outside in the minus 30 degree weather with no idea where to go. I’ve never seen a hotel act in such a ruthless, cruel and immoral fashion. It brought tears to my eyes. Hours later we saw him on his phone and when we checked with him he said his advocates were organizing a credit card authorization for him from afar but there were many hoops to jump through before the front desk would approve him. I simply don’t understand if he was able to put the incidentals charge of 200$ on his credit card and pay in advance for his stay with cash, why the issue from the miserable front desk staff. We offered our help as much as we could and we pray he ended up with a room. I’ll never stay at a Coast Plaza hotel again and I encourage you to ask them about this policy. On a lesser note the hot tub, pool and rooms were downright scary. Yikes. Wouldn’t put my body in that water and it was an extremely uncomfortable night stay in the room. It also had wallpaper thin walls. Do not stay here!
